Code of Conduct

At Project Koru, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for young adults with cancer, our staff members, volunteers, and participants. Our Code of Conduct outlines the expectations and standards of behavior that everyone associated with Project Koru must uphold before, during and after Project Koru programs and events to ensure a positive and empowering experience for all. By adhering to this Code of Conduct, we can collectively contribute to the success of our mission and the well-being of our community.

Respect and Inclusivity

  • Treat every individual with respect, kindness, and consideration, regardless of their background, identity, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or abilities.

  • Embrace diversity and inclusion, fostering an atmosphere where everyone's unique perspectives and experiences are valued.

  • Address conflicts or disagreements in a constructive and respectful manner. Seek mediation or assistance from appropriate channels when conflicts cannot be resolved independently.

Integrity and Safety

  • Prioritize the physical and emotional safety and well-being of all participants, staff members, and volunteers by refraining from any form of physical, verbal, emotional, or sexual abuse or harassment. Maintain Project Koru’s culture of consent at all times.

  • Uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct in all interactions and activities associated with Project Koru.

  • Be honest, transparent, and accountable for your actions and decisions.

  • Maintain appropriate boundaries in all interactions with Project Koru participants, ensuring that relationships remain respectful.

Confidentiality

  • Respect the privacy and confidentiality of all information shared within the Project Koru community, both personal and organizational, unless explicit consent is given.

By following this Code of Conduct, we can collectively create an environment that promotes healing, empowerment, and positive change for young adults with cancer. Any violations of this Code of Conduct may result in appropriate actions, including but not limited to warnings, suspension, or removal from involvement with Project Koru. Anyone involved in the Project Koru community can be denied participation in programs and events for any reason deemed necessary by Project Koru staff.

Thank you for your commitment to upholding these principles and contributing to the success of Project Koru and its mission.
